Simple cheese croissants

how’s your Sunday this far?

Mines been pretty great but I know what would make it even better, eating chocolate baking. As it’s Sunday I wouldn’t have enough energy to bake something high-maintenance. But I would definitely bake cheese croissants.

These cheese croissants are really more like cheese rolls even though they are shaped like croissants. These are good by themselves and with butter or jam. I’ve also eaten them with cheese (which might sound silly but I’ll tell you it isn’t). If you like tea these are a very good companion indeed and even if you don’t like tea that much you might drink a cup and have a few of these (I speak from experience).

It’s snowing now and I’m cosy. Next I might bake.

Simple Cheese Croissants

2,5 dl milk/ water

25 g yeast

0,5 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of honey

0,5 dl rapeseed oil/ olive oil/ melted butter

2 dl oatmeal

4,5 dl flour

About 0,5 dl grated cheese (I used Emmental)

For the filling:

About 1 dl grated cheese

First mix together hand-warm milk, honey, salt, yeast and oatmeal. Let the oatmeal swell for a few minutes.

Add the flour and then the cheese. After that add the oil. Leave the dough to rise.

Take a piece of the dough and roll it into a circle. Then divide into 4 (or 6) slices. Add grated cheese to the wider end of the slice and wind it into a croissant.

If you wish grease with milk (or egg) and then bake in 225 Celsius/ 440 Fahrenheit for about 12 minutes.
